Ben's Blackout enters 2026 the way it enters most years: quietly, ominously, and with an offseason strategy that nobody else in the league has ever been able to fully decode. Two championships since 2019. A front office that reportedly communicates almost exclusively in single-word text messages. And, according to multiple unconfirmed sources, a draft strategy document that exists only as a physical printout, stored somewhere in Ben's house that even Ben's own family does not have access to.

Ben counts Moneyball among his all-time favorite movies, and it shows in how he actually builds a roster — he drafts the way a front office drafts, chasing undervalued production over name recognition, and has been heard more than once explaining a pick in terms of "market inefficiency" rather than, say, a gut feeling. Connor's Kingsman has been a fixture of the bottom half of the standings for most of its five seasons, with one real exception: 2024, when it all came together for a 5th-place finish and an actual playoff appearance. That season sits in the middle of an otherwise rough stretch like proof that the talent is in there somewhere. The rest of the résumé — a 7.6 average finish, the worst in the league, and a 473-point disaster in 2025 — is harder to spin.

Then there's the name. Ask ten different ALF managers what a "Kingsman" actually is and you'll get ten different answers, ranging from medieval knight to movie spy to "some kind of chess thing, maybe." There are two Georges in this league. This one has quietly been one of the best teams in ALF for most of the last five years, and somehow nobody talks about it.

State of the Franchise

Look at the last five seasons and a clear pattern shows up: runner-up in 2021, champion in 2022, 4th place in 2023, an 11–3 near-miss in 2024, and then a quieter 2025 that missed the playoffs. Four of those five years, this team was genuinely excellent. The Goons have the best all-time points differential of any active franchise in ALF, and that number doesn't happen by accident.

And yet this franchise rarely gets mentioned in the same breath as the league's marquee dynasties. Maybe it's the name. Maybe it's that one rough year in 2025 is still fresh in everyone's memory. Maybe it's that his own father runs George's Genuine Draft down the hall with six rings of his own, which has a way of soaking up most of the family's available glory before it ever reaches this George. Or maybe it's that he usually drafts remotely from somewhere in the country nobody can quite pin down year to year, which doesn't exactly help raise his profile. Eric's Ice has been part of this league since 1992, and the résumé has plenty to point to: the second-best single season in ALF history (865 points, 2018), two championship game appearances in the last nine years (2018 and 2020), and a competitive roster most seasons since. What's missing is the one thing all of that was supposed to lead to. Thirty-four years in, Eric still doesn't have a ring.

The last four seasons have not helped the case. Eric's Ice has finished 6th in four straight years — not bad enough to be a disaster, not good enough to break through. Consistency without a payoff is its own kind of frustrating, and nobody in this league would blame Eric for feeling that more than he lets on. And yet he keeps coming back, year after year, with the same effort and the same belief that this is the one that finally breaks through. Relentless might be the right word for it. It has been thirteen years. The name has not changed. The results have. Dan remains, against all available evidence, optimistic — which, to be fair, is a required personality trait for anyone who has spent this long staring at Iowa cornfields with nothing else to do but think about his fantasy roster.

In 2013, in his first ever season in this league, Dan went 11–3, led the league in scoring with 784 points, and won the championship outright. It remains, to this day, the single most dominant debut season in ALF history. It also remains, to this day, the last time anything resembling "domination" has occurred under this franchise name.

What has followed is thirteen years of a man insisting, with total conviction, that the team is "right there." Sometimes the team was not right there. In 2024 the team scored 423 points, the lowest single-season total of any active franchise on record. In 2025 the team rebounded to 555 points and still finished 4–10. Dan describes both of these seasons, when asked, as "building years." Dan has been building for over a decade. Nobody has seen the blueprints. In fairness, Dan lives in Iowa, where the primary entertainment options are corn, more corn, and occasionally a baseball field that may or may not be visited by ghosts, so the sheer amount of unsupervised time available for draft theorizing is, frankly, considerable.

George has been in this league since 1990, making him both a founding member and, at this point, the oldest owner in ALF by a comfortable margin. He has six championships. He has never, in the recorded history of this organization, raised his voice in the group chat, celebrated a win with more than a single thumbs-up emoji, or acknowledged a loss with anything beyond "ok, next year." He had hip surgery not long ago and was reportedly back to evaluating waiver claims before he was fully off the crutches.

The 2024 championship — a 58–58 tie decided on a tiebreaker — would have broken a lesser man. George reportedly responded to the news by saying "interesting" and going to bed at his usual time. Somehow, every year, his draft picks just work out, in a way nobody can quite explain and George has never bothered to. Notably, his son runs George's Goons — a franchise built entirely on chaos, mood swings, and wild year-to-year volatility. The regular season, however, belonged to Ben's Blackout. Ben finished 9–4–1, the best record in the league, with 673 points for. The 2024 runner-up had every reason to believe 2025 was their year to close it out. Then Ian's Intimidators walked into the semifinal and won by 30. George's Genuine Draft also had a strong run — advancing to the semis before falling to Steve — and then claiming 3rd place over Ben in the consolation game. George won the championship in 2024. Steve won it in 2025. Both founding members are very much still in the conversation.

Ian's Intimidators joined this league in 2023 and reached the championship game in year three. That is not an accident. They beat Ben's Blackout by 30 in the semis and pushed Steve to a 57–38 final. Tim's Troublemakers and George's Goons both missed the playoffs entirely despite strong prior seasons — Tim finishing 8th and the Goons 7th. Eric's Executioners led the whole league in points for at 713 and finished 5th. The talent is real. The postseason has not reflected it yet. Dan's Domination had a difficult year at 4–10, and Connor's Kingsman followed a 2024 playoff appearance with the lowest scoring season in the league at 473 points. Two franchises with more to give in 2026. Eric's Ice went 7–6–1 and earned a playoff spot, losing a tight wild card game 49–45 to Ian's Intimidators — the same team that went on to reach the final. Not a bad season. Just ran into the wrong team at the wrong time.

What to Watch in 2026: Early Storylines, Open Questions, and One League That Never Stays Predictable

We are not going to sit here and tell you who wins the 2026 ALF championship. Anyone who confidently predicts that before the draft has not been paying attention to 36 seasons of this league. What we can do is tell you what the storylines are heading in, who has something to prove, and where the interesting tensions are likely to play out.

Steve's Silver Bullet enters as defending champion with six rings. That makes him the target. It also means he picks his draft slot last, which is either a disadvantage or completely irrelevant depending on how you view Steve's track record. George's Genuine Draft is right behind him with six rings of his own and a 3rd-place finish in 2025. Two founding members at the top of the all-time list. The race to seven rings starts now and both of them know it.

Ian's Intimidators are the league's newest and most disruptive force. A championship game appearance in year three is not a fluke — it is a signal. The rest of the league is going to draft with Ian in mind this year in a way they simply did not before. Whether Ian can handle being the hunted rather than the hunter is the most interesting question of the 2026 season. Ben's Blackout will have something to say about all of that. Ben had the best regular season record in 2025 and still went home fourth. Two rings and a habit of strong regular seasons. The championship has been close.

Tim's Troublemakers and George's Goons both missed the 2025 playoffs. That is not a pattern for either franchise — it is an interruption. Tim has six rings and a reputation for consistency. The Goons have four rings and the best all-time points differential in the league. Neither of them is done. Both come into this draft needing a bounce-back season, and both have the history to deliver one.

Eric's Executioners led the entire league in scoring in 2025 with 713 points in just their fourth season. That is not a coincidence — that is a franchise figuring out how to build a roster. The title has not come yet, but the ingredients are there. Eric's Ice has been a steady playoff-caliber team and went 7–6–1 in 2025. The experience of 34 seasons in this league counts for something when the bracket gets tight.

Then there is the bottom half of the 2025 standings, all of whom get earlier draft slot selections as a result. Dan's Domination picks first after a 4–10 season — the same manager who went 11–3 and won the whole thing in 2013. Connor's Kingsman picks second after a tough 2025 following a 2024 playoff appearance. Tim's Troublemakers picks third. All three have every incentive to use their early selections well. Steve's 2025 title pulled him level with George and Tim — three active managers in a dead heat, all gunning for 7. Nick is gone but his ghost has a ringside seat.

Eric's Ice has been in the league since 1992, has reached multiple championship games, and remains one of the most experienced franchises in ALF. Connor's Kingsman, Eric's Executioners, and Ian's Intimidators are also winless. The 2026 draft represents another chance to change that narrative. It probably won't. But it could.

Lineup Lock: Players lock when their game starts. All lineups final at 4pm Sunday — no changes after that even if the site allows it.

Regular Season. 14 weeks. Your record determines playoff seeding and draft slot order next year.

First Round. Division winners get a bye. The other two playoff teams in each division play. Winners advance.

Wk 16

Semifinals. Reseeded by record: 1v4, 2v3. All four teams advance to Week 17.

Wk 17

Championship Week. Top 2 play for the title. Bottom 2 play for 3rd/4th. No free agent moves after Week 15 (IR exceptions apply).

Divisions: Reset each season. Top 3 + bottom 2 teams form one division; 4th through 8th form the other. Top 3 in each division make playoffs = 6 playoff teams.

WAIVER WIRE

Sun–Tue Claims: Go through waivers. Process runs Wednesday morning in reverse standings order (worst team first).
Wed–Sat: Free pickups, first-come-first-served. No waivers.
Cost: $1 per player involved in an add/drop.

A player qualifies for IR if listed as Questionable, Doubtful, or Out per NFL designations.
IR players stay on your roster and are not available to other teams.

Suspended players are NOT eligible for IR. Ineligible players on IR may be dropped by the commissioner.

PLAYOFF GAME TIE

Each playoff team must designate bench players (1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 K) before each round. In the event of a tie: bench QB scores first, then RB, then WR, then K. If still tied: coin flip.

✗ Do not change lineups after 4pm Sunday. Even if the site lets you. It is noted. It will be flagged.

✗ Draft yourself. No proxies unless commissioner-approved. Your team, your picks, your consequences.

✗ Manage your IR. Commissioner checks weekly but mistakes happen. You are responsible for your own roster compliance.

✗ No extra guests at the draft. This is in the official rulebook. In writing. Bring food instead — it reduces your fees.

✗ Respond to trades. You have the week. Don’t be the person who ghosts a trade offer.

✗ Commissioner’s decisions are final. Arguing in the group chat is entertaining for everyone else and changes nothing.

Respond to Trade Offers. You have the full week. Ghosting a trade offer is not a strategy. It is bad manners. Respond, decline, counter — anything. Just respond.
Group Chat. The group chat is for league business, trash talk, and the occasional injury update. Complaints about scoring, the schedule, or the rules belong to the commissioner — not the group chat. Nobody wants to read it. Nobody is going to agree with you.
Pay Your Fees. Entry fees, transaction fees, and any applicable penalties are to be paid on time. Chasing down owners for money is the commissioner's least favorite part of this job. Do not make it necessary.
Draft Day Conduct. The draft is a live event. Be present. Be ready. Bring food if you want your supplies to count against your fees. Do not bring uninvited guests. This is in the official rulebook. It has been in the rulebook. It will remain in the rulebook.

Decisions Are Final. The commissioner has final say on all disputes, scoring questions, and rule interpretations. Arguing in the group chat does not constitute an appeal. It constitutes entertainment for everyone else.
Rule Changes. Any proposed rule changes must be submitted to the commissioner before the season begins. Mid-season rule change requests will be noted, filed, and addressed the following offseason. Maybe.
Roster Compliance. The commissioner reviews rosters weekly for IR compliance. However, each owner is responsible for their own roster. If your ineligible player gets dropped, that is on you. The rulebook was available. This page exists.
Expansion & New Owners. New owners are added at the commissioner's discretion. They select draft positions after all returning owners regardless of prior season results. Welcome to the league. Good luck. You will need it.

📜 The Unwritten Rules — Now Written

✗ Check the injury report. It is updated daily. It is in the app. There is a red icon. There is no excuse.

✗ Do not start players on bye. The bye weeks are listed in the app, on the NFL website, and on approximately every fantasy football resource in existence. This is a choice.

✗ Set your lineup. Forgetting to set your lineup is not a strategy. It is a gift to your opponent. They did not earn it. You handed it to them.

✗ Do not complain about your schedule. Everyone plays the same schedule. The opponent scores what they score. This is fantasy football. The math is not targeting you specifically.

✗ Do not reach in the draft. You know who your guy is. Everyone knows who your guy is. Drafting him four rounds early does not make you clever. It makes you predictable and also wrong.

✗ Do not draft a kicker in the first ten rounds. This should go without saying. It has gone without saying. Someone in this league has still done it. You know who you are.

✗ Accept losses graciously. You can be upset. You can vent. What you cannot do is relitigate every scoring decision in the group chat for three days. Move on. Set your lineup. Try again next week.

✗ Show up to the draft. The draft is the most important day of the season. Remote participation is available. Using the app to auto-draft because you forgot is not the same thing as participating. We will know.
